Bicycle style - shorts and leather (by Dutch (Street) Impressions)
I’ve forgotten how to ride a bike. @aoawaywego
These are just some additional pictures from my ride yesterday (Sunday 28 April), with regards to my post on my main blog (LINK).
Just pictures taken of me on the ride.

I figured I’ll get the ‘bad’ out of the way first for today.
While coming home from downtown, I was traveling along Lake Street (10:15AM). Traffic was actually heavier then usual, the left lane (north bound) had many vehicles trying to turn left into the (Westlake?) plaza.
In my mirror I notice this truck behind me, almost on my fender. I saw a clearing up a head (about 30 metres) in the left lane for him to pass so I sped up.
Then when I look into my mirror again I see he has sped up and is now in the process of passing me.
The front end of the truck was probably a foot at the most from me. When the middle of the truck was beside me he continued to squeeze me further to the right…At this point I just jammed my brakes on, which had I not the rear end would have hit me or had squeezed me directly into the curb.
Fortunately nothing happened in the end, I was aware of what could happen if I swerved right (into the curb) or not braked (under the truck).
8 years of riding a bike, this was by far the worst experience I’ve had AND a reason why I never criticize people who cycle on the sidewalk.
I’d also like to thank the vehicles behind the truck who slowed drastically when this happened, unsure if I was going to fall off.
For the most part helmets are rare in St. Catharines (thankfully), but these two opted to wear them.
